Nowadays successful Software Product Lines (SPLs) are often developed in an incremental way, in which the variability artifacts evolve both in space and in time. In order to solve practical challenges in variability specifications and realizations, a variability reengineering method called VITAL (Variability Improvement Analysis) is presented. The VITAL analysis has been adopted several times in industrial project settings at Fraunhofer IESE.
