Inhalt
Hydrogen electrolysis cells are pivotal in enabling efficient hydrogen production, a key factor in the transition to climate-neutral industries and transportation. This thesis focuses on the design optimization of bipolar plates in hydrogen electrolysis cells, employing techniques from topology optimization. First, two distinct mathematical models for the bipolar plates are introduced for this purpose. Then, both model problems are rigorously analyzed theoretically to show their topological differentiability.

Further, a novel method for identifying multiple local minimizers of topology optimization problems is developed and applied to the two bipolar plate models. This approach leads to the discovery of numerous local minimizers, showcasing its potential for identifying innovative designs for bipolar plates. Finally, the connection between the two model problems is investigated both theoretically and numerically.
